Emmanuel Church of God in Christ United (COGICU) has a rich history and promising future.

  • Founded March 16, 1975 by Elder Artice Lee Wright as Emmanuel Church of God in Christ, and located on the corner of North Mississippi and Skidmore Street, Portland, Oregon 97211

  • Elder Wright was officially installed as pastor by Bishop W. L. McKinney, Jurisdictional Bishop of Oregon First Jurisdiction, Church of God in Christ.

  • Pivotal to the groundwork and foundational establishment of the church in 1976 was his wife, Missionary Maggie Foxworth Wright.

  • In 1980, the current property at 4800 NE 30th Avenue, Portland, OR was purchased.

  • Also in 1980, Emmanuel COGIC joined the Church of God in Christ United (COGICU) organization under the leadership of Presiding Bishop James Feltus, Jr., where Pastor Artice L. Wright was installed as the Jurisdictional Bishop and Missionary Wright as the Jurisdictional Supervisor, both for the Pacific Northwest Region.

  • February 2011: Bishop Artice L. Wright was called home from Labor to Rest.

  • February 2011, Bishop William Marcus Pollard, founder of Jubilee Tabernacle Church and Ministries, was named Senior Pastor of Emmanuel COGICU.

  • May 2011 - Jubilee Tabernacle Church officially merged with Emmanuel COGICU

  • August 2011, Bishop Wm M. Pollard was officially installed as Sr. Pastor of Emmanuel COGICU and Jurisdictional Bishop of Oregon, Jurisdiction #1
